I have always been a vivid dreamer and usually remember my dreams. Last week, I had a very unique dream which included many of our church family. Most of my dreams happen in the old sanctuary which is unusal since we've been in the "new" sanctuary almost twelve years. In my dream, we were in the old sanctuary and I turned around and there sat Sarah Pierce. Sarah passed to her glorious reward in August of 2020 from complications due to having been given blood while recovering from the virus. For those of you new to CECC, Sarah was a faithful member of CECC for almost 40 years. She was a member of the praise team, a Sunday School teacher, YWEA Missions Director for numerous years leading CECC to be the leading giver for Northwest Georgia, amazing singer, and most importantly a HOLY GHOST filled prayer warrior. When I saw her in my dream, I said, "Sarah, what are you doing here?" She said, "God raised me from the dead!" Then, I awoke.
In meditating on my dream and writing this devotion on "Resurrecting Hope," the Holy Ghost gave me this blessed word. It was not coincidental that I dreamed of Sarah leading up to Resurrection Day. It was confirmation to me and you of our blessed hope of the resurrection. In the words of the Apostle Paul in I Corinthians 15:12:
"Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
Sarah visited me to remind me and you of our blessed Resurrection Hope.... I will see her again and all the saints gone before her in that holy city as we all sit at Jesus' feet....
To God Alone Be The Glory!
