As we approach the anniversary of Jesus Christ’s resurrection, we must reflect on what His resurrection and blood sacrifice mean for every human being.

Leviticus 17:11 states "For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life." This verse tells us that blood is required to cleanse us from our sin. Animal sacrifice only covered our sins temporarily.

The sacrifices had to be made on a yearly basis. In order to offer a sacrifice, Hebrews 9 tells us that the Tabernacle had to be prepared, the priest had to perform their ritual duties, but they could not go past the first section of the Tabernacle. The high priest is the only one that could go into the second section of the Tabernacle. He only did this once per year which required a blood sacrifice to offer to cleanse him and his people for unintentional sins. These ceremonial washings and offerings only dealt with food and drink and regulations for the body. They did not cleanse our consciousness. Without the shedding of blood, our sins cannot be forgiven. BUT when Christ appeared as a high priest, He did not enter through a tabernacle made by His creation. He entered through His own blood that was without blemish to cleanse us once and for all. 1 John 1:7 tells us that Jesus’s blood cleanses us from ALL of our sins.

Christ’s blood has the power to:

The sacrifices in the Old Testament was the foreshadowing of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Through Christ’s resurrection, He demonstrated his power over sin and death providing us with eternal life. 1 Corinthians 15:17 tells us, "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins." His resurrection is what gives us the hope of eternal life and victory over death.

1 Peter 1:3 tells us, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."

Are you covered by his blood? If not, all you have to do to be covered is to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, believe that God raised Jesus from the dead so that you will be saved (Romans 10:9), then you must walk by faith. Paul teaches us in Philippians 3:9 that we cannot make ourselves acceptable to God by obeying the Law of Moses. God accepts us because of our faith in Christ. Trust Jesus in everything you do. His blood is sufficient. There is nothing too big or too small. There is Power in His blood. If you abide in Him and He in you, you are covered by his blood.
